Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) Exam Date Sheet 2016 has been released by the Indian Air Force (IAF). The exam is scheduled to be held on February 21, 2016. Air Force Common Admission Test is a written exam conducted by Indian Air Force twice every year to induct officers in the IAF. The written exam is followed by Air Force Selection Board Interview for shortlisted candidates. Through AFCAT you can apply for all the three branches of the IAF which are Flying Branch, Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branches. The eligibility criteria for different branches vary. Both men and women can apply for all the three branches. While for women there is short service commission only in all the three branches, for men there is Permanent as well as Short Service Commission for men. However for Flying Branch only Short Service Commission is there through AFCAT. Thus if you clear the written exam and then clear the AFSB also then you have a chance of joining the Air Force Academy.
After clearing this exam, the shortlisted candidates will be called for SSB (Services Selection Board) test, followed by medical fitness tests.
The candidates must be graduates in any discipline from a recognised university and must have attained minimum 60 percent marks in aggregate in all papers put together and should have passed Maths and Physics at Class 12 level or must possess a BE /B.Tech degree (four year program) from a recognised university with minimum 60 percent marks in aggregate in all papers put together.
Technical Branch (Aeronautical Engineer-Electronics)
The candidates must have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognised university or cleared section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or graduate membership examination of the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers.
Age limit: Age limit should be as follows below….
Flying branch: The age of the candidates must not exceed 24 years and must be minimum 20 years.
Technical branch: The age of the candidates must not exceed 26 years and must be minimum 20 years.

Exam Pattern : Questions from the following topics will be asked:
General Awareness: History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Civics, Basic Science, Defence, Art, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics etc.
Verbal Ability in English: Comprehension, Error Detection, Sentence Completion, Synonyms, Antonyms and Testing of Vocabulary.
Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Simplification, Average, Profit & loss, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion and Simple interest.
Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: Verbal Skills and Spatial Ability
Important dates: The last date of submission of online application form is December 31
