Janos Pasztor Of Hungary Appointed As Senior Adviser To Secretary-General On Climate Change

On 30 jan, 2016 United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has announced the appointment of Janos Pasztor of Hungary as Senior Adviser to the Secretary-General on Climate Change. Mr. Pasztors has serves in many posts like Assistant Secretary-General on Climate Change,Executive Secretary of the Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Global Sustainability, Director of the Secretary-General’s Climate Change Support Team, Director of the United Nations Environment Management Group and in various senior positions within the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. As the Senior Adviser to the Secretary-General on Climate Change, he has to support efforts of the Secretary-General to mobilize world leaders and all sectors of society to implement the landmark Paris Agreement.

7.0 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Eastern Russia

On 30 Jan, 2016, Saturday earthquake of a strong magnitude of  7.0 magnitude has struck eastern Russia , the U.S. Geological Survey has said that their were no damage or casualties caused by earthquake. The centers of Pacific Tsunami Warning and The National centers has said that there were not any risk of Tsunami causing by earthquake.

Noted Telugu Scholar Nayani Krishna Kumari Dead

On 30 Jan, 2016 , The legendary poet, researcher, speaker and an active participant in literary and cultural organizations, Nayani Krishna Kumari has passed away at the age of 86 in her home in Hydrabad. She was suffering from illness from long time, according to his family. She was born on 14 March 1930, in Andra Pradesh. Besides being a well known literary figure, she was an academic who taught in Chennai, Osmania University and finally at the Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. Her first book was published at the age of 18 called history of Andhraites called ‘Andhrula Katha’.

N Ramesh Kumar Appointed As The AP State Election Commissioner

On 30 January 2016, the AP government has constituted the State Election Commission and appointed senior IAS officer N Ramesh Kumar as the state election commissioner. N Ramesh Kumar have to hold the office for five years.

On 30 Jan, 2016 Angelique Kerber has won the Grand Slam title of Australian Open for the first time. She has defeated Serena Williams by the score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. 28-year-old Angelique Kerber, is the first German to win a major singles title since Steffi Graf at the 1999 French Open.

Former Army Chief K.V. Krishna Rao Passed Away

On 30 Jan, 2016, Former Jammu and Kashmir governor and retired chief of Army staff, General K V Krishna Raohas passed away (at the age of 93) at the army hospital (Research and Referral), Delhi Cantonment. He has take part in II world War and Burma, North West Frontier and Baluchistan. He has also served short tenures as the Governor of Mizoram.
