Delhi High Court Judicial Assistant /Service Syllabus Exam Pattern 2017

Delhi High Court invited many applicant for the recruitment of 192 Posts of Junior Judicial Assistant (Restorer), Court Attendant and Room Attendant.  Candidates who have applied for this job can check their admit card status and other information related to Delhi High Court Judicial Service Admit Card and Pre exam written date.

About Delhi High Court :- The High Court of Delhi was established on 31st October, 1966. In view of the importance of Delhi, its population and other considerations, Parliament thought it necessary to establish a High Court of Delhi. This was achieved by enacting the Delhi High Court Act, 1966 on 5th September, 1966. By virtue of Section 3(1) of the Delhi High Court Act, the Central Government was empowered to appoint a date by a notification in the official gazette, establishing a High Court for the Union Territory of Delhi. The appointed date was 31st October, 1966. The High Court of Delhi was established with four Judges. They were Chief Justice K.S.Hegde, Justice I.D.Dua, Justice H.R.Khanna and Justice S.K.Kapur. The sanctioned strength of Judges of this High Court increased from time to time. Presently, the sanctioned strength of Judges of the High Court of Delhi is 29 permanent Judges and 19 Additional Judges.

Exam Pattern : The Exam Pattern is as follows:

Junior Judicial Assistant (Restorer)

  • The Exam will be Objective Type written exam.
  • The Question paper will be in English Language.

Exam Syllabus : The Exam Syllabus is as follows:

Junior Judicial Assistant (Restorer)

  • Language Comprehension : This is to test the candidate’s knowledge and power of expression in English. Credit will be given both for substance and expression. Conversely, deduction will be made for bad expression, faults of grammar and misuse of words etc. There will be passages for translation,  one in English which will be required  to be  translated into Hindi (in Devanagari Script). Other in Hindi (in Devnagri Script) shall be required to be translated into English.
  • General Awareness : Questions are designed to test the candidate‟s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.
  • General Mathematics : Questions will be asked from Simplification, Average, Percentage, Time & Work, Area, profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Speed, Investment, HCF LCM, Problem On Ages , Bar Graph, Pictorial Graph, Pie Chart. Date Interpretation is the section which have to be focused.
  • Reasoning Ability :Analogies, Similarities, Differences, Space visualization, Problem solving, Analysis and Judgment, Decision-making, Visual memory, Discrimination, Observation, relationship, Concepts, Arithmetical reasoning, Verbal and figure classification, Arithmetical number series, Abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationships.

Court Attendant and Room Attendant

  • Hindi : Mainly Focus on the topics like Synonyms, Antonyms,  Sentence Error, Sentence correction, fill in the blanks, Comprehension & Cloze Test etc.
  • English : Mainly Focus on the topics like Synonyms, Antonyms,  Sentence Error, Sentence correction, fill in the blanks, Comprehension & Cloze Test etc.
  • General Knowledge : History, Geography and Socio Economic development of India. Knowledge of current events of National and International importance and such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person who has not made a special study of any scientific subject. Paper will also include questions on Modern History (From 1857 onwards) of India, Indian culture, Indian Polity, Indian Economy, Geography of India.
  • Arithmetic : This exam will be Conducted to check the Candidate Mathematical Knowledge. Number Systems, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistical Charts

Preliminary Examination

Exam Pattern : Exam Pattern for the Judicial Service.

  • Written Exam will be of multiple choice objective type.
  • The maximum marks for Preliminary Examination shall be 200.
  • There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for one wrong answer.
  • Minimum qualifying marks shall be 60% for General and 55% for Reserved Categories i.e. SC, ST and Physically Handicapped (Blind/Low Vision) (Mobility not to be restricted)/ Orthopedically.

Exam Syllabus : Exam Syllabus for Judicial Service Preliminary Examination.

Questions related to general knowledge and aptitude of the candidate, candidate’s power of expression, flair in English, knowledge of objective type legal problems and their solutions covering Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code, Contract Act, Partnership Act, Principles Governing Arbitration Law, Evidence Act, Specific Relief Act and Limitation Act will be included.

Main (Written) Examination

  • Written Exam will be descriptive (subjective) type.
  • The Main Examination shall consist of following subjects.

 Exam Syllabus : Exam Syllabus for Judicial Service Main Exam is given below.

  • General Knowledge and Language : This paper has two sections.
  1. General Knowledge :- Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline. This is topic is huge so applicants are advised to go through Newspaper daily and read good GK books and other notes.
  2. Language (Essay, Translation and Precis Writing) :- This is to check candidate’s knowledge and power to understand in English. A candidate should know English like Grammar, how to use words, do not misuse words. There will be one more thing is translation of language. A paragraph will be given in English to translate in Hindi (in Devnagri Script) and a paragraph in Hindi to translate on English.
  • Civil Law-I : Indian Contract Act, Indian Sale of Goods Act, Indian Partnership Act, Specific Relief Act, Hindu Law, Mohammaden Law, Delhi Rent Control Act and Law of Torts.
  • Civil Law-II : Civil Procedure Code, Law of Evidence, Law of Limitation & Law of Registration.
  • Criminal Law : Criminal Procedure Code, Indian Penal Code & Indian Evidence Act.
